Palos Verdes Art Center Competition

In.Vision Architecture participated in a competition to design a new facility for the Palos Verdes Art Center (PVAC) in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. PVAC has a dual mission of showcasing the work of southern California artists, offering classes to people wishing to explore their creative talents, and also providing a community meeting space for the area. The program included galleries, a pottery studio with kilns, printmaking and painting studios, a fiber arts studio, and a dark room for photography classes. The sloping site, situated at the intersection of two busy roads, became narrower as the slope descended. The design provided staff parking at a lower level of the structure, while visitor parking was to be accommodated on an adjacent property that PVAC intended to purchase.
